The Logix® 520MD digital positioner is a highly efficient instrument that combines top-notch positioning and tuning functionalities with an easy-to-set-up mechanism and diagnostic tools that are nothing short of powerful. The Logix 520MD positioner implemented an algorithm for multi-variable gain tuning, which enables it to execute large step changes with minimal overshoot while still efficiently resolving to correspond to small step alterations.

The Auto-tune procedure is a feature of the Logix 520MD positioner that automatically cycles the actuator so it can produce a measured response and pick gain values that guarantee adequate actuator performance. The Auto-tune function features a gain modifier selector that can significantly increase or decrease the calculated gain, allowing the positioner to achieve optimal performance.

The Logix 520MD digital positioner is designed to allow for easy DIP switch configuration for tuning mode and other common settings. Although the tuning sets can be tailored with ValveSight™ software or a handheld device, catering to a broad range of actuator sizes and types.
